Personally, it’s getting to the point where I just want to avoid Jalopnik. The quality in terms of proofreading has absolutely tanked, which on to of the “look how edgy we are using curse words” presentation makes it seem pretty juvenile.

I don’t think adblock gets rid of the “sponsored content” posts though. In the pre Univision days, the sponsored content and kinja deals posts seemed like they were the workaround for allowing readers to use adblock without losing too much ad revenue.

I don’t use an ad block and I don’t seem to have those posts... I guess that if Fusion could get to feature some interesting sponsored content (IDK... Car stuff and not dildos?) it would be better!

Either way, I don’t see much of Jalopnik these days... mostly only the main stories and perhaps whatever y’all link here.

Has the proofreading ever been good? I don’t mind it so much when there’s a good article buried underneath the obvious grammatical errors... But those errors have been prevalent as long as I’ve been reading.

That said I’ll never get over how they destroyed what had become the absolute best online motorcycle site available with the “letting go” of Sean McDonald. And then let potentially the best writer in the gawkerverse leave, thus tanking Foxtrotalpha as well.

The dildo ads were one of the reasons I stopped reading jalopnik. The other reasons include letting most of your good writers for the site flee andposting mostly incoherent negative “articles”. What little quality content was left was not worth having an awkward work conversation about dildos.

I lefct for about a year, only came back a month or 2 ago. but it seems most of their stuff is shit I’ve seen on facebook or another site the day before. I didn’t realize I could start an automotive site doing that.
